The Chief Imam of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lt.-Col. Husein Eleje, has tasked Nigerians on support and respect for constituted authorities for the country to make sustainable progress.
Eleje gave the task on Sunday at the Abakpa Military Cantonment Eid Prayer Ground, Enugu, where Enugu State Muslim faithful held their Eid Prayers making the end of the Ramadan fasting for Muslims worldwide.
He noted that every true Nigerian owes constituted authorities “total diligence and obedience” both in words, actions and in our daily prayers for their success.
The cleric said, “Being obedient means being eager to work with them and show them full support as well as compliance to rules governing the country.
“The constitution is for the leaders and the lead; we should be able to carry out the task given to us or those suppose to be done by us as the lead, since they (leaders) cannot work alone or make huge progress on their own.
“The leaders most times depend on the lead. The society is structured in form of a “pyramidic order”, where we have few leaders at the apex and vast majority of the lead at lower strata of the pyramid.
“Looking at the society from a pyramidic order, you see that the President cannot do much if he does not have support and buy-in of most Nigerians to implement programmes and succeed in them all.”
The chief imam urged Nigerians to work selflessly for the good and progress of the country, adding that Almighty Allah had richly blessed the country with natural and human resources to kick-out poverty and lack among Nigerians.
The cleric applauded Muslim faithful for living exemplary life-style during the Ramadan as well as daily supplication for Almighty Allah’s forgiveness, bounties and blessings upon their neighbours, communities and society.
He urged Muslims faithful to maintain all good traits and attitudes imbibed during Ramadan and continue to live peacefully with their neighbors and extend acts of charity and love to others.
“We should develop the spirit of brotherhood and live as one entity as well as ‘be our brother’s keep’ to make things work smoothly within our neighbourhoods, communities and society at large,” he added.
In the course of the prayers, Eleje prayed for protection and success of the armed forces especially Nigerian Army troops and in their various theatres of operations within and outside the country.
He prayed for divine wisdom, protection and direction for the Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Tinubu; the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; the General Officer Commanding of 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye and other commanders.
