Azikel Group Defends Aviation Programme, Rejects Allegations by Former TraineeAzikel Group has defended its aviation training programme, dismissing allegations made by former participant Kariyai Daukoru and insisting the initiative remains a genuine effort to empower Bayelsa youths.In a statement signed by Special Assistant and Lead Spokesperson, Austin Ebipade, the company described Daukoru’s claims as false, misleading and defamatory.The statement said the aviation programme was established by Dr. Eruani Azibapu, CFR, to provide free overseas aviation training opportunities for qualified Bayelsa science graduates.According to the company, applicants underwent a three-stage selection process, including a computer-based test, in-house mentorship and character assessment before overseas training.Azikel Group said participants received a monthly stipend of N205,200 during the mentorship period while their training and travel expenses were fully funded.The company said Daukoru passed the initial screening and joined the programme in March 2024 but allegedly failed to secure the mandatory recommendation from expatriate supervisors.It claimed supervisors raised concerns over his commitment, attendance, conduct and compliance with workplace rules throughout the mentorship programme.The statement further alleged that Daukoru resigned voluntarily in July 2025 after spending about 16 months in the programme.Azikel Group also claimed it had begun admission processes with a United States aviation institution despite the outstanding recommendation requirement.The company alleged it later received reports suggesting Daukoru intended not to return to Nigeria after travelling abroad, prompting further internal inquiries.It said Daukoru subsequently instituted a civil suit against Dr. Azibapu and Azikel Group before making allegations on social media.The company also accused unnamed individuals of circulating fake campaign posters portraying Dr. Azibapu as a Bayelsa governorship aspirant.Azikel Group denied any political ambition on the part of Dr. Azibapu, insisting he has no intention of contesting for elective office.It maintained that matters arising from the dispute are already before competent courts and would be resolved through due legal process.The company reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, industrialisation and job creation, saying it would continue defending its reputation through lawful means.
