Chief Jude Asogwa, the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, has showered praises on Gov. Peter Mbah for his efforts to developing the area.
He said this while speaking to the members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council in Nsukka.
The chapel members were in Nsukka LGA to see some of the projects been undertaken by the present administration in the state.
Speaking at the premises of Type 2, Primary HealthCare Center in Ihe Ward, Nsukka, the chairman said that type 2 hospital were sited in the 20 wards of the LGA.
“Nsukka has 21 because when they were sitting the hospitals in each ward, the contractor mistakenly sited two in Obukpa ward.
“The governor allowed it to stand; so, in Nsukka LGA we have 21 type 2 hospitals, ” he said.
The Chairman said that all 21 type-2 PHCs are over 90 per cent completed, while one facility is fully and already functional.
According to him, the type 2 hospital, Ihe ward, has a functional borehole, a solar light providing 24hrs light to the facility in line with the governor’s directive.
“It’s not only the type 2 hospitals alone; Nsukka LG has 20 Smart Green Schools, one in each ward
“Earlier today, I was at the Opi Community to take delivery of the Furniture and Science Laboratory equipment for the smart schools, ” Asogwa said.

According to him, the 20 Contractors handling the smart schools have been paid fully, thereby putting pressure on both him and the contractors to deliver.
Asogwa also disclosed that the governor had installed a N1 billion Oxygen plant at the Nsukka General Hospital, to ease the demand for oxygen by hospitals in the LGA.
“So, in Nsukka LGA, we don’t have any reason for any hospital to complain of lack of oxygen machine in it’s facility, ” he said.
He said the governor was also constructing many roads within Nsukka township, which will enhance the living standards of the people of the area.
“These are the reasons why, we in Nsukka LGA has decided that, come 2027, we will show gratitude to Gov. Mbah, by voting for him to thank him for all that he is doing for us.
“We will also vote for President Bola Tinubu for making it possible for an Nsukka man to emerge the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) after 65 years of it’s existence, ” Asogwa said.
The Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Jude Asogwa, says 20 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) are over 90 per cent complete, with one facility already operational.
Asogwa said this on Tuesday at the completed and functional Ihe Nsukka PHC Centre, while interacting with journalists during a tour of projects by Gov. Peter Mbah’s administration.
He said Nsukka was grateful to the governor for approving an additional PHC centre mistakenly included by the contractor, besides the 20 Type-2 PHCs approved for the 20 political wards.
According to him, the facility was well equipped and staffed to address most healthcare needs, while journalists on the tour had their blood pressure, blood sugar and other vital signs checked.
“The PHC is solar-powered, with a functional borehole, oxygen cylinder, drugs, laboratory, all sorts of medical equipment and consumables, maternity, wards and accommodation for doctors, nurses and other clinicians already working here.
“Other ongoing 20 Type-2 PHC projects are more than 90 per cent complete and we will soon take delivery of their equipment and consumables from the state government.
“This is notwithstanding some existing and functional PHCs funded by the government,” he said.
Asogwa said the state government had upgraded and revitalised Nsukka General Hospital, installed a N1 billion oxygen plant, provided other equipment and deployed a state-of-the-art ambulance.
The chairman said work on 20 brand-new Smart Green Schools was at various stages of completion, with the council expecting equipment and learning materials for the facilities.
“The council is taking delivery of 86 computers for each of the 20 Smart Green Schools, television screens, laboratory equipment, free school uniforms as well as desks and chairs for our children’s experiential-tailored learning,” he said.
Asogwa said Nsukka residents were grateful to Mbah for the massive dualisation of the Enugu-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, completed roads and others scheduled for construction and reconstruction.
“We are grateful to His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, for the massive developmental projects in health, education, roads, social interventions and a brand-new teaching hospital in Nsukka axis of the state.
“We are also grateful to President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Mbah for making it possible for us to have the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) from Nsukka extraction.
“There is serious reconstruction work ongoing on the 9th Mile-Nsukka-Obollo Afor Dual Carriageway, which cuts across Nsukka LGA, under President Tinubu’s administration,” he said.
Asogwa said that Nsukka people had vowed to appreciate Tinubu and Mbah for their people-oriented projects through massive votes in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
“As a people, we will show appreciation to these great leaders by our avowed massive and direct votes come 2027 General Elections and ensure their people-oriented projects and kind dispositions to Nsukka people get rewarded,” he said.
