The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Somtochukwu Udeze, has charged confirmed Commissioners in the State to key into the Solution Agenda of Gov.Charles Soludo.
Udeze said that Soludo’s administration is prioritising the Anambra development project agenda in their various ministries.
Udeze gave the charge shortly after the confirmation of the brand new Commissioner Nominees on Wednesday in Awka.
He urged them to show committed efforts as it is expected of them to gain quick transformation in all sectors of the state economy.
He congratulated the Commissioners and urged them to live up the expectations and join hands with Soludo in repositioning their various ministries.
He said that the partnership is in order to realise the ultimate goal of the administration which is anchored on infrastructural and human developments.
“If Anambra will be a destination, I want all of us to work together. It is a new beginning from today in the state.
“Leadership is a responsibility,as you assume office,it exists on the table.
“Every decision you make, you must answer the question,how does it improve the lives of the people?
“You have to always make yourselves accessible to the people ” Udeze said.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Chukwuma Okoye, the Chairman, House Committee on Screening, and Election Matters revealed that during the screening, the 16 Nominees were able to prove to the Committee that they are qualified and competent in their various fields.
Okoye said that they are desirous to put in their best in their service to the State, noting that the Commissioner Nominees were cleared by the Committee on merit.
The 16 confirmed Commissioners are Dr.Ben-Chuks Ozoemena (Agriculture), Mr.Chukwukadibia Okoye ( Budget and Economic Planning), Mr.Udorji Amedu (Culture, Entertainment and Tourism), Dr.Ekene Ogugua ( Education),
Dr. Clems Aguiyi ( Environment), Dr.Afam Obidike ( Health), Dr.Law Mefor ( Information and Value Reformation) and Prof.Offonze Amucheazi (Lands).
Others are Mr Vin.Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs), Prof.Charles Ofoegbu ( Petroleum and Mineral Resources), Mr.Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development),
Also confirmed are Mr Casmir Chinenye Agu Madu (Power), Mr. Okey Ezeobi ( Works and Infrastructure), Mr .Edward Ibuzor (Transportation), Mrs.Easter Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development) and Mr.Patrick Aghamba (Youth Development and Sports).
In a vote of thanks, the confirmed Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr.Law Mefor, spoke on behalf of other commissioners.
Mefor expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for confirming them and promised that they will do the State proud in their various ministries.
Mefor also said that they will put in greater efforts not to disappoint the governor and Anambra people in their trust on their capabilities
The confirmed 18 commissioner nominees earlier were sent to the house by the governor on May 4,2026.
The list comprised of second timers like the former commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor as Information and Value Reformation , former commissioner for Health,Dr Afam Obidike and Commissioner for Lands, Prof Offonze Amuchiazu, SAN
Meanwhile, the Assembly has also received a second batch of commissioner nominees from Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra.
The assembly led by the Speaker, Dr Somtochukwu Udeze recieved the second batch of commisoner nominees from Soludo for confirmation on Wednesday in Awka during plenary as it sets to confirm the first nominees who have been screened.
The speaker satutuorily has referred the following names to the Committee on Screening and Election Matters considersation screening and approval headed by Mr Pius Okoye.
The names as called out by the speaker are Mr Henry Arinze – Commissioner Designate For Housing, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu – Commissioner Designate For Commerce
Also in the list are Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme – Executive Secretary ASHIA
