A current affairs analyst, Dr Ambrose Igboke, has faulted the Federal Government’s celebration of the recent economic scorecard by Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Oloyede.
Igboke, who is the Chairman of Guild of Public Affairs Analysts, Enugu State chapter, said the government’s stance was tantamount to an undeserved self adulation.
“It is a mere celebration of academic economic statistics that presents a dissonance with the economic reality of Nigerians.
“Nigeria is the Poverty Capital of the world yet our Government is celebrating trillions of low value Naira.
“Even the CFA of our Neighbouring Benin Republic now has more value than the Naira yet the FG continues to reel out plenty Naira with little value, ” he said.
He said the Federal Government was amplifying the volume of Naira shared or generated but conveniently left out the low value of the Naira against other currencies.
“It is all about volume but no corresponding value. We should have some modicum of shame! ” Igboke said.
