River State Governor Nyesom Wike urged his critics within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on the 2023 election and not attack it.
Wike said this as he kicked off in Ogbunabali sand-filled area in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Rivers state governor, who was defeated by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the PDP presidential primary in May, said he is aware of his value as a politician.
“Wherever any real Rivers man is, you must show that you are important, you must show that you have something to offer and not houseboy, we do not belong to the houseboys; we’re not known for being that,” Wike said.
“So, all of you, keep showing that you are not second-class citizens in any state or in any area,” he added.
He urged former Kaduna state governor Ahmed Makarfi to focus on winning the PDP elections rather than attacking him personally.
“I don’t know when was the last time we spoke. I have never spoken to him in the last five months. So if you’re close to someone politically, there’s no way you haven’t talked to that person,” Wike said.
“What I want to advise Makarfi is: look, you have a job, make sure the PDP wins the Kaduna state. Leave Wike. Make sure the PDP wins in Kaduna state, I don’t want to hear excuses.”
