Nembe Women Mobilise Support For Tinubu’s Re-election
Hundreds of women in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa on Friday declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The women made the declaration during a grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation tour of Nembe City and Opu-Nembe organised by the socio-cultural group, Nembe Se Unites.
The initiative, tagged Ama-Ama (Village-to-Village) Tour for PBAT, is aimed at mobilising rural women to support Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
The President and Convener of the group, Mrs Beatrice Numonyo Awululu, said the women were convinced that the Tinubu administration deserved another term to consolidate its achievements.
Awululu said Nembe and Bayelsa East had benefited from development projects facilitated by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), under its Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
She urged the women to reciprocate what she described as the administration’s support for the area by voting for Tinubu’s re-election.
She also called on them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the electoral process.
“Women are the most active gender in politics, and we are taking this message from village to village to ensure that our people speak with one voice.
“As a card-carrying member of the APC, I believe one good turn deserves another. Our civil servants are happy, and Bayelsa East is enjoying the benefits of NDDC projects under our son, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
“President Tinubu has done well for our people and will do more if re-elected,” she said.
Awululu commended Gov. Douye Diri, Ogbuku, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and Chief Dr Kojo Sam for their support for Tinubu’s re-election.
Also speaking, the Opu-Nembe Coordinator of the Ama-Ama Tour for PBAT, Mrs Seiyefa Clinton, said the campaign was designed to mobilise women and other grassroots residents for Tinubu and the APC.
Clinton said the initiative was also a return to the traditional Nembe practice of collective deliberation and consensus-building on critical issues affecting the community.
She said the women had resolved to support Tinubu and vote for APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The Secretary-General of Nembe Se Unites, Mrs Abel IkioMuna Faith, said the mobilisation was intended to unite women behind their grand patron, Chief Dr Kojo Sam, in the drive for Tinubu’s re-election.
Similarly, the Nembe City leader of the group, Mrs Inigoni Gamage, and the Okoroma Women Leader, Mrs Fakuma Ederson Zebidi, expressed confidence that the ongoing grassroots mobilisation would strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects in the area.
They said the group was determined to ensure overwhelming support for Tinubu in the 2027 presid
ential election.
