LABOUR PARTY iS THE CODE; Chief Joel ILoh
A Labour Party Stakeholder from Oji River local government area of Enugu State, Chief Joel ILoh has described the coming on board of labour Party as the new Code in the Political environment of Enugu State.
Chief Joel, who addressed a Press conference at the end of the Enugu State Governorship election Tribunal Tuesday noted that labour Party became the toast of the Electorate in the last election in the State.
He said this was as a result of the many pitfalls of the ruling Party in the State the PDP which for 24 years ran a self centered politics that was not in any way interested in the welfare of the masses.
He wondered how even in the recent election the ruling party bait was to share satchets of salts and soap to convince the Electorate when labour Party under the able leadership of Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga and his Deputy Governorship Candidate Dr John Okechukwu Nwokeabia was visiting all wards in Enugu State asking them to say clearly what each ward was expecting in the next four years.
“According to him: “This was what drew the attention of the Electorate to the Party that has a new idea of how the State can move to the next level.”
Chief Joel went further memory lane to note that with labour Party in power in Enugu State in this dispensation a new development that will change the Socio economic lives of the people citing the bridge Linking Enugu and Abia State between Awlaw and Isuochi which was destroyed during the civil war that ended since 1970 is still there.
He added that the Colonial masters who built the bridge knew that it was going to make life very easy.
“This is exactly 53 years since the bridge was destroyed and this reminds us about the Civil war that ended fifty three years ago.
“This bridge will bring a great Change in how people travel between the two states with the attendant economic benefits, ” he said.
He said that the Electorate have become wiser and know what they want and as such it is no longer business as usual.
“Thanks to the labour Party manifesto that are People focused, ” he said.
According to him, even as the new dispensation was just starting labour party elected members especially in Oji River local government were already empowering the youths in the area with the needed skills to change their lives in the shortest possible time.
He said this was unlike what was obtainable in the past when it was only during the time the election was getting close that the political class will come to give pittance to the Electorate.
Chief Joel advised the labour Party faithful in Enugu State to continue in prayers so that the outcome of the Tribunal where labour Party has in every way proved that the Electorate in the last election rejected the ruling party.
“As they have in the past twenty four years kept the masses at bay while enjoying the people’s common wealth with their cronies, ” he said.
