The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Special Assistant to the President, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku, and Mr. Flavour Eze yesterday emerged national delegates of the forthcoming National Convention of All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development which occurred at the APC Local Government Congress peacefully conducted on Saturday at Comprehensive High School, Udi-Abia.

FirstNews correspondent who covered the Congress reported that the exercise was conducted through consensus devoid of violence.
FirstNews also reports that at the end of the exercise a 27-man executive committee was peacefully elected to pilot the affairs of the party in Udi Local Government Area of the state.
The Chairman of the electoral committee, Hon Sunday Onoh, while addressing the party faithful expressed happiness with the successful conduct of the exercise and lauded the peaceful disposition of all the delegates.

He also commended the delegates and the members of the party from the area led by the Hon Minister Foreign Affairs, His Excellency, Geoffrey Onyeama.
Speaking with newsmen, the Minister said that he conducted a parallel congress as the guidelines set out by the National Working Committee of the party was unfavourable to his supporters.
Onyeama said the chairman of the congress committee told him he would only deal directly with the party chairman in the State, a situation he said “is unacceptable because the State chairman is an interested party; so he hid all the forms and denied many people the opportunity of having access to the forms.
“We want a free and fair election but unfortunately those who want to be elected and the congress committee that came here, the chairman claimed that the NWC said that he should only meet the State Chairman of the Party.

“The chairman of the State Party himself is interested, so you can imagine a situation where someone who is interested is allowed to carry out the electoral process.
“We can’t allow that to happen, so we have gone on with the parallel congress.”
FirstNews reports that, G. B Onoh, the Women Leader,Lolo Queen Nwankwo, Ejike Njeze among other notable stalwart of the party in the area participated in the Onyeama faction led congress.

The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the various security agencies, among others.
