Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi has ordered the immediate sack of one Rita Uzoigwe of Ebonyi State Pippe Production Company, Ezzamgbo for dereliction of duty and acts inconsistent with her mandate.
In a press statement, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Emmanuel Uzor disclosed other reasons for the immediate sack of the staff to include absentism and truancy.
Mr. Uzor noted that the suspension was announced by the governor when he paid an unscheduled visit to the production company during which the sacked and suspended staff were not on seat.
The Chief Press Secretary announced that the Governor has also directed the Head of Service, Dr Chamberlain Nwele to suspend one Nwamgbo Chukwuma, Harrison Egwu and Oroke Chioma, all staff of the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry attached to the Ebonyi State Pippe Production Company for three months without salaries for acts inconsistent with their mandate and absentism.
Mr. Uzor further expressed the governor’s dismay over growing lacadesical attitude of some workers to duty and warned that henceforth he will continue on his unscheduled visits to Ministries, Departments and Agencies and anybody not found on his or her duty post shall be severely dealt with in accordance with the civil service rule of engagement.
Mr. Uzor pointed out that the governor however directed the Head of Service to act immediately to serve as deterrent to others.
It would be recalled that political office holders, many civil and public servants in the state have in the recent past been suspended following acts of lateness, absentesim and other acts inconsistent with their mandate.
