Never in the history of Enugu politics had the political temperature been heated high even at the fact that the electoral authorities have yet to lift ban on campaigns. This is no thanks to the chicanery some political jobbers have employed to massage the political ego of some overambitious politicians of Enugu extraction and hoodwink them into thinking the people of the state are with them. This points to the extent to which ambition can drive men daft and dumb they would not know by their unseemly action they have frittered away the respect and goodwill they had previously earned from the people. Such development as this has the positive side of exposing the weaknesses of these men who before now carried on so superhumanly as though they had some supernatural traits others did not have. Their foibles have also been uncovered from the cloak under which they had before now been shrouded. The veil is lifted and what we can see there is greed, selfishness, insincerity, pride, arrogance bordering on idiocy and rebellion which is like the sin of witchcraft. It is now clear that all this while, political opportunism was mistaken for exceptional qualities and achievements.
The proverb that a rolling stone gathers no moss also finds practical fulfillment in the crass level of desperation and ill-preparedness seen in the hobbling together of a most puerile team of media warlords and cheerleaders who often make nonsense of their candidature by presenting the negative impression of a people gropping in the dark whereupon anything in sight is quickly engaged for use in their wild goose chase. Their often change of mantra is a sign of confusion and lack of commitment to any known ideology. That actually is not how to become the governor of Enugu State. Ugwuanyi has lifted that seat above the mesh of mediocrity and has elevated it to the aristocratic palace of superlative achievements and so the path to it does not yield to the hackneyed mantra and the maladroitness of those behind it.
Before now, Enugu State had suddenly been untimely woken up to who was coming and who would not. It was not as though anyone was bothered about anyone coming so long as whoever would come takes the right and known route of coming. They had begun too early knowing full well they were on the wrong route. Anyone who would come and did not submit self to the swing of zoning had better not try coming because they are off the track and even nature would not yield to the radicalized impropriety of such coming. Ironically if unbelievable, such inorpportune choking of the system with arrant dissidence from a major beneficiary of zoning leaves much to be desired. One begins to wonder from whence ambition gathered such power to make men mad. Madder than insanity itself. Or how do you explain the fact that a lawyer, a law-maker of such acclaim of the height of the senate, would brazenly violate the law in the mad crave for a remote political office? As a matter of fact, that seat is as remote and far from them the same way heaven is remotely far from the earth. When did INEC lift the ban on political campaigns that vehicles are now being branded with posters of, this time not about who is coming, but who now purports to make Enugu State better. Mantra is changed and this change links to the continued misdirected castigation of Ugwuanyi and his administration by the misguided neophytes media charlatans recruited to do dirty jobs for the paymaster. The electoral authorities have got to do the needful and sanction this effrontery and electoral malfeasance. A disqualification that would lead to political retirement would put riddance to bad rubbish.
Who is setting Enugu State back to the anachronistic, antiquated diluvian low of better when Ugwuanyi has lifted the state to the best pedestal? Ugwuanyi is the best, better is not enough. Enugu State cannot return to Egypt for garlic and onions whereas it has entered the promised land flowing with milk and honey. Someone is certainly coming from Enugu East Senatorial Zone to take over from His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi. The new bride from Enugu East Zone is coming to sustain the legacy of the best and have the people of Enugu State continue to luxuriate in the balmy ecstacy Ugwuanyi has wrought with his Midas Touch and unrivalled giant strides indelibly engraved in the annals of good governance.
Tell the overambitious rebel to take away his Sword of Damocles out of the state’s tranquil realm. What he calls his better is overtaken by the best and Enugu State cannot afford to take many steps backwards to his better whereas it has already seen the best which the Ugwuanyi administration epitomises.
