A former governor of Kano, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, has come under the hammar of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following a petition against his financial dealings as a two-term governor.
The financial crimes agency has sealed off a property belonging to Kwankwaso, who was also a senator.
Kwankwaso represented Kano Central Senatorial Zone at the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015.
One Barrister Mustapha Danjuma had alleged in a petition that Kwankwaso received contributions of N70 million from each of the 44 local government councils in Kano State while he served as governor.
The petitioner alleged that the amount totalled N3.08 billion which was used to finance his presidential ambition in 2015.
This had brought Kwankwaso under investigation by the EFCC. ##
