ABER Appoints Christine Ngbaazande National Coordinator For South Sudan
The Board of Trustees and Management of the BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI) has appointed Ms. Christine Joseph Ngbaazande.
Ngbaazande was appointed National Coordinator of the Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) in the Republic of South Sudan.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by BTPDI, the organisation sponsoring the pan-African ABER initiative.
Ngbaazande is the Executive Director of Wake-up Women Development Organization (WWDO), with over 20 years of professional experience.
Her areas of expertise include public administration, governance, public health, child protection and gender advocacy.
ABER described the appointment as a strategic addition to its continental network, citing her professional experience and commitment to women’s empowerment.
The organisation also highlighted her contributions to community resilience and inclusive development.
Ngbaazande holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration.
She has served as Traditional Minister for Education and Development in the Azande Kingdom.
She was also a member of the National Constitution Review Commission of South Sudan.
Her previous positions include Boma Health Officer with IMA World Health/USAID and Co-Lead of the Gender-Based Violence Technical Working Group.
She also served as Project Manager with World Vision.
In her new role, Ngbaazande will represent ABER and serve as its official focal point in South Sudan.
She will coordinate national membership, develop strategic partnerships and promote ABER’s mandate within the country.
Her responsibilities will also include advocacy for gender inclusion, community livelihoods and sustainable water resources management.
She will liaise with the ABER Secretariat and Regional Bureau on programmes, events and reporting.
Commenting on the appointment, ABER’s Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, said her expertise would strengthen the organisation’s continental activities.
Kiyaramo said her experience would support ABER’s work in inclusive Blue Economy development, gender mainstreaming and sustainable livelihoods.
He noted that her appointment would contribute to the organisation’s activities across the Nile Basin and beyond.
“Ms. Ngbaazande brings proven expertise in women’s empowerment, community resilience, humanitarian response and policy engagement,” Kiyaramo said.
“We are confident her leadership will further advance our collective mission to place Africa, including its inland water systems, at the centre of the global Blue Economy,” he said.
The appointment takes immediate effect and is renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and compliance with ABER’s values and governance framework.
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) is a flagship initiative of the BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI).
