Enugu Police Command Friday arraigned Mr Amaechi Eze and Mr Emmanuel Obetta at the Enugu East Magistrate Court for allegedly destroying a banner bearing the image of the Wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi and the wife of Agwu Local Government Chairman, Mrs Ifeoma Okeke.
Amaechi Eze and Emmanual Obetta who have been in detention since 3rd May were both arraigned before His Worship C.R. Nwoye (Mrs), on a two count charge in Charge No. CME/278C/2018.
The two men were charged for conspiracy and for willfully and unlawfully damaging a banner featuring the pictures of Enugu State Governor’s wife Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi and Awgu Local Government Chairman’s wife Mrs. Ifeoma Okeke”.
Counsel to the two accused, Barr. Olu Omotayo, who applied that the Honorable Court grant them bail on a lenient and liberal terms as both accused had been in Police custody since 3rd May 2018.
Sergeant Bonaventure Nnadozie for the prosecution did not oppose the bail of the accused persons but wanted bail to be granted on stringent conditions.
The Magistrate later admitted them to bail in the sum of N100, 000 naira with one surety each in like sum. The case was adjourned to June 12, 2018, for hearing.
