Chief Imam of Nsukka Central Mosque, Yakubu Omar, has commended the member representing Nsukka/Igboeze-South Federal constituency in House of Representatives, Dr. Pat Asadu, for being a de-tribalised Nigerian.
Omar made the commendation, in Nsukka, on Monday, while receiving bags of rice, cartoons of soft drinks and some amount of money from Asadu as sallah gifts for Moslems faithful at Nsukka Central Mosque.
He said he was not surprised on the sallah visit of the lawmaker because he relates well with everyone in the constituency irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliations.
“Asadu is a de-trbalised Nigerian who relate well with everyone in his constituency because he believes all of us are created by one God.
“Last year during sallah, Asadu also visited us and gave us bags of rice, cartoons of soft drinks as well as money as sallah gift,
“On behalf of Nsukka Muslim faithful, I thank him for his demonstration of love care and unity as I pray Allah to continue to bless him, “he said.
The Chief imam urged Nigerians in every part of the country to live in peace with their neighbours as well as relate with one another as brother and sister irrespective of tribe or religion affiliations.
“The Almighty God who created us to be in one country knows the reason, if we are united and love one another in this country Nigeria will be the best country in the whole world,” he said.
Earlier, Asadu said he was at Nsukka Central mosque to celebrate with the Moslem faithful after their successful completion of thirty days of fasting and prayers.
“I am here to congratulate you for successful Ramadan fasting, it is not easy to fast for thirty days.
” Accept these bags of rice, cartoons of soft drinks and this money as my sallah gift,” he said.
The lawmaker expressed satisfaction on the continued peaceful co-existance between Moslem in Nsukka with Christians and the traditional religion and called for its sustenance.
“I am happy on peaceful relationship between Moslem and Christians in Nsukka in particular and Enugu State In general and prayed it should continue.
“We should always see ourselves as one irrespective of tribe, religion or political party affiliations.
