Foundation donates materials to Cathedral primary school, Enugu
The Arthur-Chinedu Ugwa Foundation has donated various school materials to the pupils of Cathedral Primary School School, Enugu.
The founder, Mr Chinedu Ugwa, a Philanthropist and former pupil of the school said the donation was his desire to give back to the society.
He said it was out of the little that he had that he decided to give a little to the school that made him.
Ugwa, who is also the Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Bayelsa State Government urged other alumnus of the school to come to the aid of the school.
He said: “This is out of the little that I have. It is not that I have much but it is out of the little that God has blessed me with that I give back to the society that made me.
“I call upon all other alumnus of this school to the aid of our Alma msza,” he said.
He said that his hobby was doing good always, hence the motto of the foundation is “always doing good”.
Speaking, Mrs Ekeoma Onoh, Education Secretary, Enugu North and South Local Government Councils lamented the encroachment into the school by the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Enugu.
According to her, the church had done everything possible to make the school uncomfortable for the teachers and pupils.
“Very close to us here is a burial ground built by the church. They erected structures all around the school. We just have this little portion of land left. It’s very unfortunate ” she said.
She informed that, due to continued encroachment, the Primary School Management Board was planning to relocate the school and merge it with Ogbete Primary School.
She said that the Cathedral Primary school which was established in 1958 had produced eminent people hence it should not be allowed to go into extinction.
Onoh thanked the foundation founder and promised to convey the message to the relevant authorities.
The school’s Head Mistress, Mrs Ozo Okpara thanked Ugwa for his philantropic gesture and for coming back to his Alma msta.
She urged other alumnus of the school to emulate the good gesture of the foundation by looking back to where they started.
According to her: “charity begins at home.”
Items donated include school uniforms, shoes and exercise books.
