Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area has emerged as the champion of the highly competitive Rauf Badamosi Football Championship, which saw the participation of all 17 local government areas in Enugu State, following a commanding 2-0 victory over Nsukka LGA in the final match played on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025. The match, held in a thrilling atmosphere at the Rauf Badamosi stadium Ibagwa-Aka, showcased the exceptional talent and determination of the Igbo-Eze South team as they secured a well-deserved win.
The Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South LGA and Deputy Chairman of ALGON Enugu State, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, alongside the sole sponsor of the championship, Jimoh Rauf Badamosi (JRB, aka Kuzzel), was present to cheer the team to victory. Their support and commitment to grassroots sports played a significant role in motivating the players throughout the tournament.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Speaker of Nsukka Legislative Council, Hon. Chinonso Emmanuel Ugwu (Ijele), who represented Nsukka Local Government Chairman, Engr. Jude Chinedu Asogwa; the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Emeka Sunday Ajogwu; the Chairman of Enugu State Football Association (EFA), Hon. Barr. Tony Ugwu; as well as traditional rulers and other distinguished guests.
Their presence added prestige to the event and highlighted the government’s dedication to youth and sports development.
