The village head of Akin Osomba Community in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River, Ntufam Patrick Etim has appealed to the Gov. Ben Ayade-led Government to complete procedure for full ownership of 38,000 hectares of Cocoa Farm it acquired in the Community some years back.
He made the appeal on Wednesday in Akamkpa during an interview with Journalists.
He said there was the need for Government to complete all the necessary procedures for the full take over of the Cocoa plantation by the State Government.
“It is only when such procedures have been completed that, the State Government can afford to take full charge of the Cocoa Estate that it developed some years ago in Akin Osomba community, ” he said.
The village head appealed to Gov. Ben Ayade to visit the community, adding that, such visitation would provide opportunity for both parties to complete necessary paper works to pave way for full ownership of Akin Osomba Cocoa estate.
According to him, Cocoa could grow in any part of Cross River including Calabar, the State capital.
“To me, cocoa can do well anywhere in Cross River State.
“This is why I want the governor to visit our community and get the necessary paper-work done, so that, the State can take full ownership of the farm for the betterment of all the stakeholders, ” he said.
Etim said that, the new Cocoa Estate, when fully operational, would provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youths of the community and beyond.
