ABER Women’s Forum Appoints Dr Obiageri Director of Advocacy, Policy and Governance
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed H.E. Dr. Ezeadili Appolonia Obiageri as Director of Advocacy, Policy and Governance, ABER Women’s Forum.
The appointment recognises Dr. Obiageri’s extensive experience in finance, governance, political leadership, project management and gender advocacy.
She is a Certified National Accountant, Chartered Project Manager, Forensic Accountant and distinguished public servant with more than two decades of professional experience.
Dr. Obiageri previously served as National Financial Secretary, ECOWAS Women Section (ROAJELF), Foreign Affairs Minister and Finance Minister of the United Kingdom of Atlantic (UKA).
Her academic qualifications include HND Accounting, Certified National Accountant (CNA), PGD Management, MBA, MSc Project Management, and PhD Administration and Management.
She also served as Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2025 Anambra election and Deputy National Women Leader of the YPP/LP.
She was also Director-General, Political Contact and Mobilisation, Accord Party, bringing extensive experience in political organisation, governance and stakeholder engagement.
In her new role, Dr. Obiageri will champion inclusive policies and greater recognition for women across Africa’s Blue Economy.
She will track policies at African Union and national levels while advocating greater participation of women in artisanal fisheries and maritime sectors.
Her responsibilities will also include gender mainstreaming across ABER strategies and engaging stakeholders on women’s tenure and resource rights.
The mandate covers women across Africa’s 38 coastal and island states, with emphasis on policy influence, legal advocacy and equitable access to blue resources.
Announcing the appointment at the weekend in Port Harcourt, the ABER Convener, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, described Dr. Obiageri as a seasoned political leader and gender equity advocate.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of H.E. Dr. Ezeadili Appolonia Obiageri as Director of Advocacy, Policy and Governance, ABER Women’s Forum,” Kiyaramo said.
He said Dr. Obiageri’s background in finance, governance and advocacy positioned her to make significant contributions to ABER’s women-focused blue economy agenda.
Kiyaramo said she would lead policy tracking at AU and national levels, while advancing advocacy for women in fisheries and maritime sectors.
“She will also drive gender mainstreaming in Blue Economy strategies and high-level stakeholder engagement across the 38 coastal and island states,” he said.
According to him, ABER is confident that Dr. Obiageri’s leadership will strengthen policy influence and legal advocacy for women across Africa’s Blue Economy.
He congratulated Dr. Obiageri and welcomed her to the leadership team, expressing confidence in her capacity to deliver o
