Bayelsa Education Devt. Fund boss, Etebu unveils three books to mark 60th birthday
Three books authored by Prof. Ebimieowei Etebu, Executive Secretary, Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), were at the weekend unveiled in Yenagoa.
The unveiling formed part of activities marking Etebu’s 60th birthday celebration, held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall.
The books unveiled are Echoes From Heaven At Night, Constrained by Love and the latest ABC of Molecular Biology which was launched at the event.
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Steven Odiowei, congratulated Etebu on attaining 60 and achieving the triple literary feat.
Odiowei said the gathering was not merely to celebrate a birthday, but to recognise impact, consistency and contributions to knowledge.
Prof. Teddy Adias, immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Otuoke, who unveiled the books, commended Etebu for simplifying complex scientific concepts in the newest book on molecular-biology.
Adias said ABC of Molecular Biology would make molecular biology easier to understand and benefit universities in the Niger Delta and beyond.
He recommended the book as an essential text that addressed the curriculum in biological sciences related disciplines.
In their goodwill messages, Dr Daniel Charles of RCCG Region 27, Dr Mrs Stella Ugolo and Head of Service, Mr Ebiye Sawyer, applauded Etebu.
They described him as a prolific scholar who had contributed significantly to scientific advancement and academic development.
They said that 60 years represented a landmark of wisdom, reflection and greater opportunity for service and contribution to society.
Responding, Etebu expressed gratitude to God for granting him 60 years, saying the three books reflected different aspects of his academic and life journey.
The scholar thanked his family, colleagues, reviewers, guests and others who supported the publication of the books.
Etebu said his major desire at 60 was to mentor more young researchers and contribute to the development of scholarship.
Speaking on behalf of the family, his wife, Mrs Ebimokemenimigha Etebu, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining her husband.
She described him as a dedicated husband, father and scholar who successfully balances family, faith and the rigours of academic life.
The event attracted government officials, traditional rulers, academics, lawmakers, family members and other dignitaries.
Those present included the Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, and HRH King Bubaraye Dakolo, Agada IV, Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama Kingdom.
