ABER Appoints Karen Sumser-Lupson International Ambassador, Plans Women’s ForumThe Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed Dr. Karen Sumser-Lupson, Founder of 751.EARTH, as its International Ambassador.The appointment is part of efforts to strengthen ABER’s global partnerships and promote greater women’s participation in Africa’s blue economy.Sumser-Lupson is recognised for her expertise in maritime security, sustainable ocean governance and blue economy development.Dr. Sophie De Sylvie Djoufa Tiemagni, Head of the ABER Women’s Wing, described the new ambassador as resourceful, compassionate and committed to Africa’s blue growth.According to her, Sumser-Lupson’s expertise will contribute to advancing Africa’s blue economy through stronger collaboration, engagement and partnerships.“Congratulations to Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, Convener of ABER, on this excellent decision,” Djoufa Tiemagni said.She said the appointment would further enhance ABER’s international visibility, partnerships and impact in the global blue economy space.Djoufa Tiemagni also announced plans to establish an ABER Women’s Forum within the coming weeks.She said the forum would coordinate activities, promote collaboration and amplify women-led initiatives across ABER’s growing network.“The forum will ensure women are not only participants but drivers of Africa’s blue economy agenda,” she said.Djoufa Tiemagni said she looked forward to working with Kiyaramo and ABER’s global partners to build a stronger, more inclusive and impactful network.She is an advocate for gender equity in maritime governance, ocean policy and blue economy investment across Africa.Sumser-Lupson, through 751.EARTH, has also built a global profile around maritime security, ocean sustainability and blue economy innovation.ABER, convened by Kiyaramo, is focused on mobilising policy, investment and partnerships to harness Africa’s ocean and water resources.The initiative seeks to promote jobs, food security, climate resilience and sustainable economic development through Africa’s blue economy.
