Port Harcourt, May 16, 2026 (NAN) The President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), Dr Lami Onayi Ahmed, on Wedneday led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Chief Ikenna Okafor, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Keves Global, in Port Harcourt.
The visit formed part of preparations for the upcoming All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), scheduled to attract female golfers from across the continent.
During the visit, LGAN decorated Okafor as an official partner of the championship in recognition of his support for sports development and women’s golf in Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AACT is one of Africa’s foremost female golf championships, bringing together top amateur golfers from different African countries.
Nigeria would host the championship from Nov. 1 to Nov. 7, 2026 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
The tournament, themed “Uniting Africa Through the Greens,” would attract participants from more than 30 African countries.
Ahmed said the association remained committed to promoting women’s participation in golf and expanding the sport’s development across Nigeria and Africa.
She commended Keves Global for supporting initiatives aimed at empowering women and encouraging youth participation in sports.
“Golf is gradually gaining wider acceptance among women and young people in Nigeria.
“We are happy to identify with organisations and individuals supporting the growth of the game across the country,” Ahmed said.
She described the partnership with Keves Global as timely and strategic ahead of the continental championship.
According to her, the AACT will provide Nigerian golfers the opportunity to compete with top talents from across Africa and improve their international exposure.
Ahmed expressed optimism that the championship would also boost tourism, networking and economic activities in the country.
Responding, Okafor thanked the LGAN delegation for the honour and pledged continued support for sports and youth-focused programmes.
He said sports remained a powerful tool for national unity, youth engagement and economic development.
“It is a privilege for Keves Global to partner with LGAN in promoting women’s golf and supporting African sports development.
“We believe sports can inspire discipline, excellence and opportunities for young Nigerians,” Okafor said.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of creating positive social impact across communities.
The highpoint of the visit was the decoration of Okafor as an official partner of the AACT by the LGAN leadership and the presentation of an award to him for his contributions to sports development and women empowerment. (NAN)
