Akure, Feb. 3, 2026 – Otunba Valentine Olaleye, an APC chieftain in Ondo State, has congratulated the state on its 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as “a celebration of resilience, unity and progressive spirit.”
Olaleye’s congratulatory message is contained in a statement personally signed by him on Tuesday in Akure.
“Ondo State’s creation on Feb. 3, 1976 remains historic,” Olaleye said, noting that the golden jubilee reflects “five decades of purposeful growth and collective sacrifice.”
He recalled that the state emerged from the old Western Region and has grown into “a strategic pillar of Nigeria’s federation,” with steady gains in governance, infrastructure and human capital.
According to him, “Akure has continued to stand strong as the administrative and cultural heartbeat of the state, symbolising stability and identity.”
Olaleye said the anniversary honours founding leaders and communities, adding that “the Ondo people have consistently shown determination in pursuing shared prosperity and sustainable development.”
He described the jubilee as “a moment to reflect, reassess and renew collective aspirations,” stressing that Ondo State possesses vast human and natural resources.
“This milestone calls for unity of purpose, strong institutions and responsible leadership that delivers inclusive development to every part of the state,” he stated.
Olaleye commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what he called “focused and purposeful leadership at this defining moment.”
“Under the OUR EASE Administration, Ondo State is witnessing renewed emphasis on infrastructure, continuity in governance and people-centred policies,” he said.
He urged residents to support policies that promote stability and measurable progress, noting that “development must be inclusive and felt across all communities.”
Olaleye extended congratulations to indigenes at home and in the diaspora, praying that “this golden jubilee deepens civic pride and guides Ondo State toward lasting prosperity.”
