Akure, Dec. 8, 2025 – The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has appealed to religious bodies to respect advertising regulations when placing streetlight-pole banners.
A statement signed by Yomi Oyekan, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, on Monday said OSSAA appreciates churches and mosques for their spiritual and humanitarian roles in community development.
The agency, however, noted increasing unauthorised adverts across Akure and other major areas in the state.
It reminded religious organisations that outdoor publicity must follow approved permit procedures to ensure orderliness and safety.
According to OSSAA, regulation prevents damage to public infrastructure and protects the state’s visual environment.
The agency urged faith institutions to lead by example through compliance with signage guidelines.
It said both the Bible and Qur’an encourage discipline, respect for authority and orderly conduct.
OSSAA called for collective responsibility in building a cleaner and more organised Ondo State.
It encouraged religious groups to seek guidance from its office when applying for advertisement permits.
