The Director General/CEO of Projects Development Institute (PRODA) Enugu, Dr Engr. Peter Ogbobe has charged Athletes participating in the 2024 PRODA Games Festival to ensure ‘Fair Play’ by playing safe.
Ogbobe said this while declaring open the games fiesta at the PRODA sports complex, PRODA headquarters, Emene, Industrial Layout, Enugu.
He said that the essence of the PRODA annual sports festival was to ensure peace and friendliness among members of staff, adding that it is also a period of energy, enthusiasm, and celebration.
“Our annual sports festival is more than just a gathering to showcase athletic talent; it’s an opportunity for each one of us to connect, compete, and cheer each other on, embodying the values of teamwork, resilience, and dedication.
“Sport is a powerful force, it doesn’t just push us to excel physically but teaches us invaluable life lessons-discipline, perseverance, and the spirit of fair play.
“I want 100 per cent fair play; fair play is the watchword, ” he said.

According to him, sports reminds us that even in the face of challenge, there’s always an opportunity to rise, to improve, and to support one another.
“The lessons we learn here on the field, we carry into our lives- building character and forging friendships, ” Ogbobe said.
He commended the athletes for their hardwork and commitment.
“Today is your day to shine, remember, the real victory lies in giving your best, in pushing your limits, and in cherishing the journey rather than the outcome.
“Winning is wonderful, but competing with integrity and respect for your opponents is the true mark of a champion.
“Let’s remember to celebrate not only the winners but also everyone who steps up and gives their best, ” he said.
He thanked the organizers, coaches, and volunteers, for their dedication and commitment to make the event a success.
“Without your commitment, today wouldn’t be possible.
“Let the games inspire us, let the spirit of sportsmanship lead us, and may each one of us walk away with memories that we’ll cherish forever, ” Ogbobe said.
Highlights of the event was the kick off of Inter-departmental football match and a volleyball match by teams of different departments of PRODA.
All management and members of staff were fully on hand to support the DG to ensure that the festival is successful.
