
Sports stakeholders in Enugu, Stare have expressed dismay at the unfortunate and poor performance of Nigeria athletes at the just concluded 2024, Paris Olympics,
Speaking in Enugu, the Chairman Enugu State Tennis Association Board, and former South- East representative, Nigeria Tennis Federation, Professor Gab Agu Gab, described the performance as poor and unfortunate.
He blamed the performance on lack of adequate preparations, brick-bats and rivalry in some Sports Federations,.
He noted, however, that D’ Tigress performed better than expected as they qualified for the quartet final of Basketball event lost to United States.

In the same vein, Enugu State Chairman Badminton Association Board, Mr Kester Agu, regretted that Inspite of abundant sports talents in the country Nigeria could not harness them, adding that lack of grassroots sports competitions and the unfortunate scenario of best Nigerian athletes not performing for Nigeria and yet do well for other countries, accounted for our failure in the Olympics.
He noted sadly, that Nigeria could not do well in football, wrestling, weightlifting and boxing where we were previously doing well.
