The Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Okey Ezea, has unveiled three road projects to be constructed in Uzo Uwani local government area of Enugu State.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Mr Michael Okenwa, Special Assistant to Senator Okey Ezea.
FirstNews reports that Uzo Uwani is an agrarian area known for its strength in producing a greater percentage of farm produce in the state.
According to the statement, Senator Ezea will soon embark on a tour of Uzo-Uwani LGA to inspect works on the road projects so as to ensure that the contractors are keeping to the contract terms.
“Implementation of constituency projects for the 2024 fiscal year has not commenced yet. But Senator Ezea, like a few other senators, has been able to lay hands on three projects he inherited from his predecessor Senator Chuka Utazi and he is putting efforts to get it working.
“All of the three projects awarded in November 2023 are sited in Uzo-Uwani.
“The first awarded to Ferotex Construction Company Limited was communicated to the contractor via a letter from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development dated November 10, 2023: “AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A 2.5KM ASPHALTIC NKPOLOGU–UMULOKPA ROAD IN UZO-UWANI LGA, ENUGU STATE”. The contract sum is N481.7m.
“The second road contract was also awarded on November 10 to Servizio Global Ltd. The ministry says it is for the “construction of a 1.1km asphaltic Abbi to Nrobo rural road” at a sum of N239.9m,”the statement reads in parts.
Senator Ezea in the statement said that the third road project would be unveiled shortly.
