The quiet ambiance of the St Michaels Cathedral Awgu town came alive yesterday as the 18th anniversary of Awgu Diocese coincided with the investiture of PAPAL AWARD to Sons daughters of the Diocese who have distinguished themselves to the service of God and ensured the development of the Diocese.
one of the beneficiary of the Papal Award is the affable and erudite (Sir) Nze Maduabuchi Alexander Akpa PhD from of Umuobere(Anyimanyi) Imeama- Village,Ekpulato Mgbowo Autonomous Community in Awgu local government area of Enugu State.
Sir Alexander in his profile noted that having attended catholic schools in his formative years and with the Schools under the effective control of catholic Priests made an enduring mark in his life.
As a renowned Principal he played a Distinguished role in the formation of younger ones till date. His career was such that he was elevated to the position of Chairman,Post Primary Schools Management Board, Enugu and was the first time a Principal took charge of the board.
In 2009 he was graciously offered a place in Awgu Diocese by his Lordship,Most Rev,Dr J I Okoye as the Diocesan Education Secretary in charge of Diocesan Schools and have in more ways Contributed to the development of catholic schools in the Diocese and was very much suited to the honor that was bestowed to him in respect of his Contribution to catholic Educational activities in the Diocese.
