Achi High Chief Virginia Chukwu
The last have not been heard of the recent Judicial pronouncement in the Governorship election Petition in Enugu State in the matter between the Labour Party Enugu State Governorship Candidate Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga and his PDP Governorship Candidate Barrister Peter MBAH who was pronounced as the Winner of the election last week Thursday by a Panel of Judges led by Justice Kudirat Akano.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Enugu, a Chieftain of labour Party Enugu State, Chief Virginus Chukwu (aka) Achi High Chief was at a loss as to how the Judiciary gave Judgement that was a clear departure from the decisions of the Supreme Court and in this case a breach of the Constitutional provisions in the 1999 Constitution as amended.
CHIEF Virginus noted that the judgement had left the good people of Enugu State and the nation in disbelief as the judgement defied logic and a serious miscarriage of Justice based on the Petition by the Labour Party Governorship Candidate Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga.
He recalled that the Supreme Courtourt had ruled that only the issuing authority can confirm whether a certificate was forged and the Petitioner fulfilled this requirement but yet in an earlier ruling the Same day the Panel dismissed the Petition brought by the Governorship Candidate of PRP on the grounds that he was unable to prove that Barrister Peter MBAHS NYSC was forged while in the Petition brought by Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga the Same Panel dismissed the Petition on ground that the NYSC certificate was not a requirement for anyone to Vie for the office of the Governor.
“This deci will only embolden certificate forgery which will give Political aspirants in the future a clear boldness that they can manipulate their qualifications and get away with it as this tribunal failed to address the real aspects of the Petition but decided to give justice that was not in tandem with the electoral Provisions and to all intents and Purposes Should be Condemned by the generality of the Public, ” he said.
The ACHI High Chief said he was of the view that the Judgement will Surely not pass through the scrutiny of the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court.
