The House of Representatives Adhoc Committee investigating the decisions of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigerian, concerning all Nigerian students in Ukraine
Today questions the authenticity of medical and dental students in Ukraine
The ad-hoc committee which was chaired by Hon. Emil Iyang is to investigate the decisions concerning arbitrary charges in some of the Nigerian universities promoting the students to study abroad.
He said that the medical council is not doing enough to checkmate the excesses so and that medical students will be encouraged to study in the country.
In an interactive session with the members of the council, the officials checked the activities of the student’s programs in Ukraine ranging from their school fees and their training as well as their welfare in Ukraine.
Hon. Iyang stressed the need for a holistic approach in tackling all challenges faced by the medical students in Ukraine, adding that their complaints are numerous and therefore need an urgent approach.
He said the selection process of the students for admissions and their qualifications needs to be checked, adding that the amount of money paid as tuition fee and their training as medical students need to be verified.
Earlier, the registrar Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria Tajudeen Sanusi said that the council was able to checkmate the recruitment process which was wrongfully done by agents and that their training in Ukraine was not properly done therefore the council concluded that after their training in Ukraine, they still need to undergo training in nigeria before practice.
He said the obnoxious tuition fees are questionable which the medical council is coming to terms with the Ukrainian institutions and also other activities like feeding and welfare.
He, further, stated that they will approach some of the institutions that are running programs in the Ukrainian language and a similar one in English, adding some of the challenges including students cutting corners to study in Ukraine will be tackled soon he added.
