FORUM OF NIGERIAN POLITICAL PARTIES REJECTS ENUGU GOVERNORSHIP RESULT
The recent Enugu State Governorship election result as announced by the State Collation Officer Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe the Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike have been rejected by the Forum of Nigerian Political Parties Enugu Branch (FNPP).
In a Press Release Signed by the State Chairman of the Forum Chief Adonis Igwe (JP) the Forum wondered how INEC allowed the PDP to Pad the Nkanu East LGA result with such large amount of Voters and yet treated them with kid gloves as if they have not infringed on the Electoral Acts. The release further noted that in less than nine months Labour Party created an unprecedented upset with the party winning fourteen State Assembly seats out of twenty four and Seven Federal House of Representatives seats out of eight seats with two Senatorial seats and the third which is Enugu West Senatorial District is in court which shows that Enugu people are tired of th PDP that have been in power for the past twenty four years and yet have very little to show for their long leadership. The forum also frowned at the meddlesomeness of the Elder Statesman His Excellency Senator Ifeanyichukwu Jim Nwobodo who went round before the result was announced urging Parties to allow the Result as it will be announced without any challenge.
In the case of result for Udenu and Oji River State Constituencies respectively, the forum urged INEC to as a matter of urgency announce the two results as Labour Party was way ahead in the two Local Government Areas before they were considered inconclusive.
The outcome of any rerun to decide winner will be of no effect considering that the number of votes recorded already showed that the two candidates were ahead with huge margin before the results were suspended for alleged overvoting and order from above.
The forum demanded that INEC should declare results of Udenu and Oji River State Constituencies without further delay and further explained that the people of Enugu State gave their mandate to Barrister Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga and will therefore resist any attempt to hoist Barrister Peter Mbah to govern them against their wishes.
