Boxing promoter rewards 17 young talents in Enugu

The coordinator Enugu State Grassroots Boxing Talent Hunt, Okechukwu has presented N10,000 each to 17 young talented boxers discovered during the 2022 boxing talent hunt competition in Enugu State.
He made the presentation at Grand Finale of the competition held in Enugu.
He said the boxers were discovered across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
“We also have four boxers that thier International Passport are still undergoing processing with the Nigeria Immigration Service,” he said.
He mentioned the boxers to include, Chinaza Okoronkwo Zoe Okoronkwo, Isreal Ogbodo and Chinagorom Ngwu.
According to him the boxers would travell outside the country after undergoing 2022 U18 trail for world boxing youth championship.
He said that the boxers could not travel because they did not have International Passport and “we do not want such scenerio to happen again.”
Mr Akwene Chidiobi, Special Advised (SPA) to the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Edward Ubosi said that the exercise had produced many boxers for the state.
“The most important aspect of this exercise was that, some youths who do not have interest in football discovered thier talent in boxing.
“From this exercise, we have discovered good and quality boxers and believe they will represent the state, Nigeria and ply thier trade outside the country.
“One of our major challenges to this exercise was getting the parents approval for thier children to go into the sports,” he said.
Enugu State boxing coach, Blaise Ude said that boxing was one of the disciplined sports that directs the youths focus and behaviour.
“Sports is a tool that keeps the youths aware from mischieve and we have to keep discovering and harnessing to give them a focus in life,” Ude said.
Mr. Chukwuebuka Azodo, a boxer appreciated the coordinator and speaker for his humanitarian service in the state and country at large.
Azodo noted that people needed to give back to the society from what the society made them to be and called on the government to give more attention to the sports in the state.
