NUJ condemns political killings in Enugu

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Enugu State Council has condemned in its entirety the alleged gruesome attack and murder of some politicians in Enugu, especially in Amaechi axis.
In a Statement by the State Chairman, Mr Sam Udekwe, the council noted that politics was never a do or die game, while reminding politicians of the Peace Accord they signed which must be complied with.
Udekwe urged relevant authorities to ensure that the perpetrators of the arson done on various political parties campaign vehicles should be brought to book.
“They must be made to face the full wrath of the law, ” he said.
The chairman urged the security agents in the state to swing into action and ensure the safety of voters and other players in the electoral process.
He called for protection of Journalists in the state who would go extra miles to monitor the elections and give reports to the members of the society.
The NUJ chairman further advised Journalists to carefully cross check news before dishing out to the public.
He also charged them to at all times, imbibe the ethics of the profession and adhere strictly to NBC guidelines for election coverages
