ABER Celebrates Patron Mutanga, Reaffirms Pan-African Blue Economy Vision
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has congratulated its Zimbabwean Patron, Mr Bernard Mahara Mutanga, on his birthday, commending his commitment to industrial development and Pan-African cooperation.
In a congratulatory message signed by its Convener and Founder, Dr Piriye Kiyaramo, ABER described Mutanga as a distinguished industrialist, visionary architect and advocate of the blue economy.
Kiyaramo said Mutanga’s leadership and commitment to sustainable development aligned with ABER’s vision of leveraging Africa’s industrial capacity, blue resources and diaspora partnerships for economic growth.
He also commended Mutanga’s support for youth inclusion, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods across Africa.
“As ABER’s Patron in Zimbabwe and a strong advocate for youth inclusion in the blue economy, your commitment to industrial transformation, sustainable development and Pan-African cooperation continues to inspire us,” Kiyaramo said.
He added that ABER was honoured to celebrate Mutanga’s wisdom, philanthropic spirit, humility and visionary leadership.
Responding, Mutanga expressed gratitude to ABER for the birthday message, describing the recognition as an honour and motivation to deepen his commitment to the organisation’s Pan-African vision.
He highlighted the activities of Berhard Development Corporation, which he described as a 2.5-billion-dollar cross-border industrial hub, including BER-Pig Iron and Steel, with a production capacity of 1.7 million tonnes.
Mutanga also cited his role as President of Bern-Win Utopia Eco-Smart City, a proposed 2.5-billion-dollar development designed to accommodate 400,000 residents.
He said his engagements in industrial development, commerce and international partnerships aligned with ABER’s mission to promote sustainable economic opportunities across Africa.
Mutanga, who is also Director-General of the National Chamber of Commerce, DRC SADC Region, covering Zimbabwe and Botswana, reaffirmed his commitment to industrial transformation, youth inclusion and Pan-African cooperation.
He further highlighted strategic partnerships with the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), PEN CT SA, the University of Zimbabwe, Botswana International University of Science and Technology and the Young Achievers Trust.
According to him, the partnerships support efforts to advance sustainable industry, innovation and economic development across the continent.
Mutanga thanked Kiyaramo and the ABER family for their goodwill, prayers and birthday wishes, pledging to continue supporting initiatives that promote Africa’s development through sustainable industry and blue economy innovation.
