HOSTCON Youth Council Celebrates Akpos Mezeh Andy at Birthday
The National Executive and Board of Trustees of the Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas and Pipeline-Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON Youth Council) have celebrated High Chief Dr Akpos Mezeh Andy on his birthday.
Andy is the General Manager, Community Relations and Consultant to Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL).
The council, in a statement issued and signed by its representative, Snr. Comr. Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, also known as Gen. Osama, described Andy as a distinguished Ijaw leader and patriot.
It said his contributions to the Ijaw nation, host communities and the wider Niger Delta region deserved recognition.
The council noted that Andy had distinguished himself through his commitment to the struggle for self-determination, resource control and the socio-economic advancement of the Ijaw people.
It recalled his service as Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone, and his pioneering leadership of the council among Ijaw people in the United Kingdom.
According to the statement, Andy played a significant role in mobilising Ijaw sons and daughters in solidarity with the late former Bayelsa Governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, during a critical period in the Niger Delta struggle.
It said his advocacy reflected the determination of the Ijaw people to demand justice, equitable resource control and an end to the marginalisation of oil and gas-producing communities.
The council also commended his contributions to community relations, employment generation, youth and women empowerment, scholarships for students from host communities and infrastructure development through PINL.
It said these initiatives had reinforced his commitment to improving the welfare of host communities and promoting development across the Niger Delta.
The council prayed for renewed strength, sound health and divine wisdom for Andy, urging him to sustain his contributions to peace, development and prosperity in the region.
It wished him a happy birthday, describing him as a distinguished patriot and a proud son of the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta.
