Renowned VOA Journalist Madina Nadabo Joins ABER As Director Of Communications
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed veteran journalist Hajiya Madina Dauda Nadabo as its Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
ABER is sponsored by the BRACED Tourism Promotion and Development Initiative (BTPDI), which is chaired by the organisation’s Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Piriye Kiyaramo.
Nadabo brings more than four decades of experience in journalism, public communication and international broadcasting to the new role.
She currently serves as Bureau Coordinator and Programme Officer for the Voice of America (VOA) in Nigeria, a position she has held since 1998 across its English and Hausa services.
Announcing the appointment on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Kiyaramo said Nadabo’s professional record and international exposure would strengthen ABER’s communications capacity.
He said her credibility and extensive media and stakeholder networks would also advance the organisation’s mission of promoting women’s participation in Africa’s Blue Economy.
According to him, the appointment reflects the confidence of the BTPDI Board in Nadabo’s capacity to provide strategic direction for ABER’s communications and public affairs.
In her new position, Nadabo will develop and implement ABER’s communications strategy, brand identity and media engagement framework.
She will also serve as the organisation’s official spokesperson and coordinate press releases, public statements, publications and other communications materials.
The new director is expected to lead engagements with national, regional and international media, while overseeing ABER’s digital platforms and publicity activities.
Her responsibilities will also include coordinating high-level stakeholder engagement with the Presidency, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy.
Other stakeholders include state governments, diplomatic missions and development partners involved in Africa’s maritime and wider Blue Economy development.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
