ABER Appoints Queen Mother Nina Womack Diaspora Coordinator to Drive Africa’s Blue Economy
The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) has appointed Queen Mother Nina Womack as Regional Coordinator for Africa’s 6th Region, representing the African Diaspora.
ABER is a flagship initiative of the BRACED Tourism Promotion and Development Initiative (BTPDI), focused on advancing Africa’s Blue Economy agenda.
Queen Mother Nina, a Los Angeles native, is a global community leader, entrepreneur, cultural bridge-builder and tourism advocate with more than three decades of experience.
She is traditionally enstooled as a Development Queenmother in Ghana and holds the honorary chieftaincy title of Ugo Nwanyi in Nigeria.
She is the founder of Transmedia 360, One World Food Hub and Let’s Be Whole, and serves as USA Country Chair for Global Trade and International Development with G100.
Her work spans culture, heritage foods, agro-tourism, international trade and sustainable development, connecting communities and opportunities across Africa and the Diaspora.
In her new voluntary role, Womack will mobilise ABER’s Diaspora membership and strengthen links between Diaspora capital, skills, markets and Africa’s Blue Economy sectors.
She will also promote cultural tourism, storytelling and heritage experiences, while developing partnerships to advance blue finance and sustainable development.
Womack will further champion women and youth leadership through the ABER Women’s Forum and Youth Desk.
Speaking on the appointment, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, Convener and Executive Director of ABER, described Womack’s appointment as strategic to the organisation’s Diaspora engagement.
“Queen Mother Nina’s vision to create pathways for people of African descent to experience the continent through culture, investment, heritage and shared opportunity is central to building a Bluer Africa,” he said.
“We are honoured to have her lead our 6th Region,” Kiyaramo added.
ABER is a voluntary, individual-membership continental digital networking platform promoting an inclusive, prosperous, resilient and sovereign African Blue Economy.
The platform aligns its activities with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the AU 2050 Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy (AIM Strategy).
