2027: NDC candidate, Omo-Agege commences campaign, promises better representation in SenateFormer deputy president of the Senate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege has officially flagged off his campaign in Uvwie Local Government Area of the Delta State.Omo-Agege and his campaign team on Thursday visited Ward 1, 2 and 3 in Uvwie to solicit for their supports.The former lawmaker is contesting for the Delta Central Senatorial District seat on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC).Addressing the party supporters, the former lawmaker alleged that the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori allegedly sent thugs to destroy his campaign venue on Thursday.He also alleged attacked on his life, his family members and supporters.”Yesterday, I got a credible report from the governor threatening my life and that of my family members and supporters. “Every venue we go, he will create and authorize violent attacks to disrupt our movement.”As early as 5:30 am today, I don’t know if you are aware, he sent his thugs to this very location to come and scatter everything and injure our people,” he alleged.The former senator noted that Delta State belongs to everyone, stressing that they have the right to campaign for whoever they want to govern and represent them.He warned that nobody had the exclusive monopoly to violence. Omo-Agege appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu and the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeyemi to hold the state governor responsible should anything happened to him, his family and supporters. He also called on the international community to monitor political happenings in Delta State. Omo-agege said that the governor and the All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state had nothing to campaign with hence, they have resorted to violence. The former legislator however, vowed thatthe NDC would send the ruling APC party packing out of Delta State.He appealed to the people of Uvwie to send him back to the Senate to continue from where he stopped for better representation.Omo-Agege noted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration appropriated three Trillion naira to revive the Lagos Sea Port.He said that the incumbent member representing the Delta Central in the Senate remained docile in the House without making any case for Sapele sea port which is in his homeland.He also pointed out that Delta State received four Trillion naira for the past three and half years without any tangible development on ground aside the construction of flyovers.He said that the governor failed to create employment opportunities for the people of Delta State, promising that the error would be corrected by the NDC. He disclosed that he fought assiduously to ensure the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic and the Nigeria Aerospace School, Orogun and other institutions in Delta State. “When the Defence Space School in Nigeria was to be established, one was going to Northern Nigeria and another was going to Western Nigeria but I put my foot down to fight for it,” he said.Omo-agege said that with the four Trillion naira received by the state, pupils still sit on bare floor to learn in some schools across the State. The former senator canvassed support for the NDC Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi to develop the economy. “When Obi becomes the President, be rest assured that the interest of Urhobo people will be protected under his administration.”So, as you vote for me as Senator, vote for Peter Obi as President.”Also vote for our NDC governorship candidate, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye and all NDC candidates,” he said.Among the campaign train were: Dr Veronica Ogbuagu, former Commissioner of Education, Judith Enamuotor, Hon. Rotimi Ukuade, NDC House of Assembly candidate in Uvwieand among others.
