CP Oji-,Ama urges Anambra Youths to Join Police In preparedness for State Police

The Anambra Police Command, through Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji-Ama, has urged youths of the state to urgently join the police force in preparedness of state police.
Ama made the call while addressing some stakeholders of Anambra Central Senatorial district in continuation of his state-wide consultation said that when the State Police becomes a living truth that communities will not reasonably rely on foreigners to guard their communities but àaà the youths of the community.
He also advised parents to take interest in their children’s economic stability and encourage their children to prepare to embrace and join the state police once is functional
He said that he wants the police to work in partnership with the people because he needs the people to complete the security architecture.
Ama said he is reviewing the policing strategy because there is so much stress in the society and there must be partnership between the police,comminity leaders, religious bodies and the parents.
”We need all persons especially parents to do our job. We need you to complete our security architecture through factua and timely information l”, Ama said.
He advocated going back to traditional ways of profiling people who are new in the various communities for purposes of security checks, and called on all stakeholders to join hands to guarantee state and the society at large safety for good life and businesses to thrive.
He asked the people to trust the the police saying: “We will work hard to observe your fundamental rights.
He assured that Police men under his watch will not molest the citizens or practice unprofessional while doing their jobs as securitypersonnel.
“We must be fair in whatever we are doing. We must stop extortion”.
Ama urged stakeholders to report cases of ill treatment by the police to his telephone line 09169531886.
“We will do our job but you must partner with us”, he pledged.
The stakeholders at the interactive session aired their voices to security challenges in the state and the traditional rulers of the Anambra Central Senatorial zone and some community leaders freely shared the problems of their various communities and proffered possible solutions to the security challenges facing the state.
Also some stakeholders from border communities, particularly Awba Ofemili and Ayamelum area did complained of incursions by kidnappers from neighbouring states and urged the police to note the act for proactive action.
The CP in response to the act promised to partner with the neighbouring states to curb the kidnapping activities.
He said that under the police new arrangement of “handshake across the border greater results is expected ”.
Some of the stakeholders who pointed out the need for citizens to support the police and other security agencies.
The stakeholders agreed that under the modern policing it entails advancement in technology,that people with means should assist the police to succeed, they leaders suggested.
