Azikel Group Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Defamatory Facebook Post, Demands RetractionThe President of Azikel Group of Companies, Dr. Azibapu Eruani, CFR, and the company have threatened legal action against Mr. Perekeme Fidelis Perekeme over an alleged defamatory Facebook publication.The disputed post, titled “Alleged Aviation Scholarship Scam: Second Successful Candidate Sues Dr. Eruani Azibapu and Azikel Group for N1.9 Billion,” was described as false, malicious and prejudicial.In a letter issued through their counsel, Mr. A.I. Lemu, SAN, Principal Partner at Aliyu Lemu, SAN & Co., the claimants demanded that Perekeme retract the publication within 48 hours of receiving the notice.They also demanded the immediate removal and permanent deletion of the Facebook post, including all related captions, comments, reposts and other associated content under his control.The letter further directed him to cease and desist from publishing, republishing, sharing or circulating the allegations or any similar claims concerning Dr. Eruani, Azikel Group or the Aviation Scholarship Programme.The legal team also requested a full, clear, unequivocal and unreserved retraction and apology to be published on the same Facebook account used for the original post.According to the letter, the retraction and apology should enjoy the same prominence as the original publication and remain publicly accessible for at least one month.The proposed apology must expressly state that the Aviation Scholarship Programme is not a scam and that the publication created a false and misleading impression about Dr. Eruani and Azikel Group.The lawyers also demanded written confirmation of compliance within seven days, accompanied by an undertaking that no further false, defamatory or misleading statements would be published against their clients.The letter warned that failure to comply with the demands could result in legal proceedings to protect the reputation of Dr. Eruani and Azikel Group.
