Yenagoa – A political group, Team Wilson 2027, has warned against alleged attempts to overturn the outcome of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for Sagbama Constituency II in Bayelsa.
The group’s Director-General, Mr Tony Famous, issued the warning while addressing journalists on Sunday in Yenagoa.
Famous reaffirmed the victory of Mr Felix Wilson, describing the result as a clear mandate freely given by party supporters and stakeholders.
He congratulated Wilson on what he described as a decisive victory and cautioned against any attempts to undermine the democratic process.
According to him, the primary election drew supporters from communities across Sagbama Local Government Area, including Sagbama Town.
“The exercise was conducted peacefully and in line with the guidelines of the NDC,” he said.
Famous explained that party supporters openly queued behind their preferred aspirants for accreditation and counting during the exercise.
He said Wilson polled 855 votes, while Micheal Magbisa polled 422 votes.
“With a margin of 433 votes, Wilson emerged victorious in a transparent and credible democratic process,” he said.
He expressed concern over attempts by some individuals to spread misinformation about the outcome of the primary election.
“The facts are clear and cannot be altered by propaganda or blackmail. Wilson won the primary election fairly and convincingly,” he added.
Famous stated that any effort to alter the outcome would undermine the democratic rights of party members who participated in the exercise.
Famous called on the leadership of the NDC and relevant authorities to respect and uphold the outcome of the primary election.
“Wilson remains the duly elected and legitimate NDC candidate for Sagbama Constituency II,” he said.
Other members of the campaign structure, including Ekadd Desire, Romeo Richman, Henry Brisibe, Jessica Sepele and Alemu Eteimowei, also endorsed the result.
They group maintained that the primary election was peaceful and transparent and expressed confidence in Wilson’s ability to represent the constituency effectively if elected.
It urged party supporters across the constituency to remain united and peaceful as preparations for the general election continue.
