The President General, Enugwu-Agidi Community in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), of Anambra State, Chief Pius Nwankwo, has raised an alarm over alleged militarisation of his community by the developers of NAF Green Garden Estate.
The Nigerian Air-Force (NAF)Green Gardens Estate, according to its adverts accessed on social media, was unveiled in 2025 as a project whose land was duly acquired and situated at a strategic location, billed to contain 800 duplexes with facilities such as maximum Security, Airforce Base, and Gated Estate.
Others are Asphalted Roads, 24 Hours Power Supply, 24 Hours of Water Supply, Ceche Nursery & Primary Schools, Shopping Mall, Standard Clinic, Street Lights, CCTV Control Room, and Fire Service Station, Recreational Facilities (Swimming Pool, Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Indoor Sports and 5 Aside Football Pitch).
But Nwankwo, in an open letter authored on his behalf by Dr Chinedu Ikeanyi, the son of late traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Davidson Ikeanyi, but addressed to the supposed estate developer, alleged that the property was not duly acquired, which according to him was why military personnel were stationed at the affected land to ‘intimidate and prevent the owners’ from accessing their farmlands.’
“I wish to inform you that the military men you stationed at Enugwu-Agidi farmlands to guard your so-called NAF Green Garden Estate are wreaking havoc.
They are now metastasizing like cancer and spreading to many other farm lands around the area. It is unsightly and terrifying to arrive at one’s farm lands and see armed military men staring at you in a menacing and unfriendly manner.
” Nigeria’s Military does not have any legitimate business in Enugwu-Agidi farm lands. Enugwu-Agidi farmlands are not Sambisa Forests. With the current crisis threatening our country, Nigeria, with so many killings by terrorists, the military should be deployed to Siambisa forests not Enugwu-Agidi farmlands” he alleged.
According to him, the developer and others laying claim to their communal land should cease work forthwith or present documents they used in acquiring them to Enugwu-Agidi Land Committee as requested by the community because the over 150 plots of lands being claimed were wrongly acquired.
“Anyone investing in this so-called Green Garden Estate is doing so at his/her own peril. I will stay on this message until justice is service. Finally, Sir Marc Benito Ozigbo, please, kindly ask your armed military men to leave Enugwu-Agidi farmlands so that our widows and families can access their ancestral farm lands,” he added.
