The Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Agidi Community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Michael Chidozie Okekeuche, (Opkalarim 111), has endorsed the Leadership of the new Acting President -General of the Community, Ozo Kenechukwu Darlington Okoye.
It would be recalled that Ozo Okoye, ascended to the exalted seat on 20th November, 2025, following the suspension of the immediate past President-General of the Community, Mr Ebuka Onuorah by the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) because of alleged gross conduct.
Igwe Okekeuche made the pronouncement on Monday in his palace, while playing host to the new acting PG, Ozo Okoye, and his executive members, who paid him a courtesy visit.
He asked the new leadership of the EBU to toe the path of peace and unity with the view to liberating the community out of the vicious bondage meted out to it by Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, and his lieutenants in the community for the past three years in the state.
The Royal Father vowed that the union would hold her annual General Conference/Election on 29th of December 2025, as stipulated by the EBU Constitution.
He said that several letters have been sent out as well as other several items from the community needed to ensure that the election holds on the stipulated date.
He added that what remained now was for them to put the ballot boxes down and ensure that it was the people of Enugwu-Agidi that are the ones voting, and vote according to the law, so that the outcome of the election should remain sacrosanct .
He said that the essence was to ensure that the people who will rule the community for the next three years have the mandate of Ndi-Enugwu Agidi.

The Igwe thanked the acting president-general and his team for their three years of endurance, and prayed the Almighty God to bless the team, and lead them in all their actions for the benefits of the people of the community.
” I am throwing my full weight to this December ,29th general conference of EBU,so that there will be no vacuum or gap in communication in the activities of the union in the community”, he said.
He told the acting PG that the actions of his team so far were calmly as it depicts the behaviour of a reasonable government appointed people, adding that what they have done was constitutional, and further described it as the way things should be done in the community.
“The acting PG, and his team, took appropriate step, and quietly announced it that this is what they have done by suspending Mr. Ebuka Onuorah due to his unruly, and unconstitutional behaviour, as well as neglecting the rules of the EBU with particular reference to her constitution.
“In most cases, i would count Ebuka Onuorah lucky that he was only talking of suspension, otherwise the EBU deserves the power, and with the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the community to even impeach him”, the Royal Father said
According to Opkalarim, the actions and inactions of Onuorah in the community had been distasteful to the majority of the Enugwu-Agidi people both at home, and in the diaspora, opining that they have spoken to him, but to no avail, as he had committed all kinds of atrocities even before him, and against him.
“We have gone round the nation trying to find peace , but whatever agreement that was reached, Ebuka refused to abide by it .
“I thank you people that you went to the Secretariat, and seeing it locked, you came back and you didn’t use your power which you had to enter there , and conduct your meeting , but you were able to contain yourselves, ” he stated.
Igwe, who spoke among other things, made it very clear that the secretariat does not belong to anybody, except the Central Executive Committee,(CEC), National Executive Committee (NEC),and Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU), which he said were the only bodies permitted to have their meetings or general assembly there.
The Traditional Ruler, affirmed that he had seen the presentations of the acting president-general, and wished to bless him, and commended the EBU for their unanimous decision in making Chief Ekene Okoye the acting president-general of the community.
He assured the team that there is nothing wrong with their actions, rather it was a normal thing needed to be done for the sake of the community.
He pointed out that when the head got rotten that the members ought to continue with their work before the general assembly’s conference slated to hold in December this year .
“I thank you because your actions were in concurrent with the aspiration of the CEC, I know that EBU had the reports of what Ebuka Onuorah had been doing, which offered him the opportunity to rethink, but he blatantly refused, rather he always fight everybody, claiming to be the Governor of Enugwu-Agidi community “,Igwe bitterly complained.
Igwe Okekeuche re-emphasised that nothing whatsoever would stop the election, saying that everybody in the community have accepted 29th December as the date for the conference/election .
“We are waiting for the government to come, and ascertain or know what the community had been passing through in the past three years of Ebuka’s leadership as the PG of the community.
While calling on the NEC to stand firm so that they will have proper election, Igwe Okekeuche wondered the platform that Ebuka Onuorah would stand to contest the election considering the gravity of the allegations leveled against him by the people which he had failed to clear.
Briefing Igwe Okekeuche on the reasons behind the courtesy visit, the new acting president-general of the community, Ozo Kenechukwu Darlington Okoye, said that they came to seek the Igwe’s royal blessings; his support and fatherly advise with the view to restoring the lost glory of the community.
Okoye stated that his leadership would do everything within its powers to make Enugwu-Agidi not only to work again, but be great, assuring that he would work in line with the constitution of EBU, Nigeria.
He promised to carry along the Igwe -In – Council of the community, Ulonabo, and the EBU women wing as well as the youths in an effort geared towards cleaning up the community out of the impunities committed by Mr Ebuka Onuorah, whom he said had through his ugly actions defiled the land of the community in all ramifications.
“My intention is to bring back lasting peace and unity in Enugwu-Agidi, and by extension, make it liveable for Ndi-Enugwu Agidi both at home and in the diaspora, ” the PG remarked .
He urged the people of the community to remain calm, and go about their legitimate businesses, assuring them that Onuorah and his team would soon face the heavy wrath of a panel to explain themselves concerning the allegations leveled against them.
He pleaded with the Igwe to forgive them in the areas they have erred in the course of working with Ebuka Onuorah’s administration, saying that their actions were not intentional.
In a vote of thanks, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Union, Chief Daniel Egbuonu said that the community has been living under the control of, what he described as king villains under the leadership of Ebuka Onuorah, whom he said had turned the community to object of ridicule in the whole Anambra State, and Nigeria at large.
While thanking Igwe Okekeuche for the honour done them, Chief Egbuonu, said that the Central Executive Committee of the community had leveled 17-count charges against Onuorah, all bothering on unlawful land grabbing, intimidation, and harassment of the people, especially the youths and women of the community as well as changing the traditional date of the community’s Central Executive Committee, from 29th of December 2025, to 16th December, 2025, hence his suspension by the union.
Present at the event were some security agents, and the staunch supporters of the new interim PG, who later accompanied him to his ancestral home where he sought the protection, and guide of his forefathers as he journey into the exalted office.
