Open Letter to Hon. Commissioner Tonycollins Nwabunwanne to Rescue Enugwu-Agidi from the Bondage of President-General, Ebuka Onourah

By Prince (Dr) Chinedu C. Ikeanyi (Ozo Nwawelugo), 9th October, 2025

Enugwu-Agidi town is made up of 10 villages. Geo-politically, it is considered a part of Awka Capital Territory with her enormous land mass.

Culturally and traditionally, Enugwu-Agidi shares the same ancestral patrilineage with EnugwuUkwu, Nawfia and Nri towns who are collectively known as Umunri Clan. This ancestral heritage is important and its influence on the indigenes of Enugwu-Agidi people will be highlighted later in this piece.

For many years, Enugwu-Agidi has been known as a peaceful town with enormous joy and unity among her indigenes, villages, and with her neighboring towns and communities. Like so many communities, we, the indigenes of Enugwu-Agidi self-developed our town with functional infrastructure. In 1978 we built our first secondary school, Enugwu-Agidi Community Secondary School, formerly known as Enugwu-Agidi Girls’ Secondary School, and in 1979, we built the Enugwu-Agidi Technical School (GTC), a secondary school for our boys; rural electrification in 1985 and first tarred road in 1987. Other developmental projects followed through successive and productive leaderships of our town union, the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) Nigeria.

Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) Nigeria is the umbrella organization responsible for the administrative leadership of Enugwu-Agidi town union. This socio-cultural organization whose membership is made of every Enugwu-Agidi male indigene from 18 years old is governed by a constitution known as the EBU-Nigeria Constitution. EBU-Nigeria has over 28 branches all over Nigeria and members of EBU-Nigeria Executive are elected every three years in a general election usually conducted in December. While our traditional ruler, HRM Igwe M.C. Okekeuche remains the cultural leader and father of the community, the elected Executive of EBU-Nigeria provides the administrative leadership.

Many successive administrations of EBU leadership have done their best to provide quality services to our community. However, we now have a leadership team that has turned Enugwu-Agidi upside down. Specifically, the current leadership of EBU-Nigeria, Mr. Chukwuebuka “Ebuka” David Onuorah has introduced untold violence and mayhem in Enugwu-Agidi.

Honorable Commissioner, I appeal to you to use your good office to address the serial violations  of the rights of the indigenes of Enugwu-Agidi.

Historical Context:

PG Ebuka Onuorah’s first stint as the administrative head of EBU was from 22nd October 2021 to 16th May 2022 when he served as the Caretaker Committee  Chairman of EBU. Within the first one month of his appointment by the APGA Government, he directed his thugs to club to deathone Mr. Anayo Nworah from Irunnebo Village over the allegation that he dealing on illegal drugs. At the time of his brutal murder, Mr Nworah was a young husband and father of four children and was killed by a group of thugs PG Ebuka used and continue to use to terrorize our community.

Even though this murder case is still in court, it is instructive to note that up till now, PG Ebuka Onuorah has not performed the traditional cleansing of Enugwu-Agidi land for his role in the killing of an indigene of Enugwu-Agidi on Enugwu-Agidi soil.

In December 2022, during the EBU-Nigeria’s general election which you supervised, Mr. Ebuka Onuorah, was elected as the PG. Since then, Enugwu-Agidi has been on a spiral decline as the

PG Ebuka Onuorah embarked on debasement of our traditional customs and morals, highhandedness, illicit and criminal activities.

Mr. Ebuka Onuorah is a 43 year-old male who has never added any value to Enugwu-Agidi since he took office. He does not and has never held any gainful employment or engaged in any legitimate means of livelihood. He is a career trouble-maker who consistently makes poor choices. By his own admission, via an affidavit, he cannot read or write in English even though he claims to hold a degree in Politucal Science from Ebonyi State University. Before his initial appointment in 2022 as the Caretaker Committee Chairman by APGA government and later his election as the PG in 2022, Ebuka Onuorah was not even eligible to vie for any elective office in EBU-Nigeria because he does not belong to any EBU-Nigeria branch.

He was also  excommunicated by his own kindred and village which is the biggest of the 10 villages in Enugwu-Agidi. Nevertheless, he was selected to lead Enugwu-Agidi by a hand-picked electoral body submited to your office by Chief Clem Aguiyi, the former Mayor of Njikoka LGA.

That election where you sat in the High Table at Enugwu-Agidi Secretariat was not done in accordance with EBU-Nigeria Constitution, and as a lawyer, you are aware of it.

PG Ebuka Onuorah’s current tenure in Enugwu-Agidi has placed Enugwu-Agidi on the news media across the state for all the wrong reasons.

PG Ebuka Onuorah is genetically coded for extreme violence and mayhem which he often resorts to because he lacks the temperament and capacity to engage in any civil dialogue.

Among other things, he patrols the villages of Enugwu-Agidi with a convoy of five vehicles, loaded with armed thugs, which he uses to intimidate, assault, and molest innocent citizens. He leads a land grabbing group known as Enugwu-Agidi Land Grabbers Association, who engages in illegal sale of our ancestral lands and commonwealth, to sustain his opulent lifestyle. He desecrates our traditional Stool by repeatedly raiding the Palace of the Igwe of Enugwu-Agidi, HRH Igwe Michael Chiedozie Okekeuche.

He extorts indigenes who wish to build residences in Enugwu-Agidi by illegally charging them development levies. He raids funeral ceremonies which has discouraged widows from bringing the remains of their late husbands’ home for burial. You are aware that the government of Governor Soludo passed a law against charging people development levies by communities leaders.

The most worrisome issue facing Enugwu-Agidi indigenes today is the ongoing violence, molestation, and physical abuse on cituzens which PG Ebuka Onuorah and his thugs have introduced into Enugwu-Agidi polity.

Last month, September 2025, manyreturned home for our constitutionally mandated two-day Central Executive Committee (CEC) meetng of the Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) which was held on 26th and 27 September, 2025. However, the meetng was marred by violence because PG Ebuka Onuorah’s armed thugs attacked some of the delegates from various villages and denied others access to the town Secretariat, the venue of the meeting. At least three delegates ended up in the hospital and many others were disenfranchised and denied entrance to the town’s Secretariat. Our traditional ruler and members of his Royal Cabinet had no choice but to walkout of the building after their pleas to PG Ebuka Onuorah to allow the delegates inside the Secretariat complex fell on deaf ears. What was the “crime” of the delegates? Nothing other than PG Ebuka’s belief that the maltreated delegates do not support his land grabbing operations.

It is instructive to note that one important thing that was accomplished during our September Homecoming 2025 was a Peaceful Demonstration organized by the Chairmen of ALL the villages in Enugwu-Agidi and held at Eke Enugwu-Agidi Market Square. At the Demonstration, ALL the 10 villages passed a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE on the leadership of PG Ebuka Onuorah. The peaceful demonstration featured prominently in local media and recorded NO violence.

Another protest occurred at the CEC MeetIng organized by PG Ebuka Onuorah at the town’s Secretariat where many delegates were disenfranchised, denied access into the complex, and some of them physically assaulted by PG Ebuka’s thugs.

PG Ebuka Onuorah and his thugs have insisted that ordinary Enugwu-Agidi indigenes can no longer access the Secretariat complex without their consent, which is contrary to our EBU Nigeria constitution. Consequently, certain youths in the community are threatening to return fire for fire by confronting PG Ebuka Onuorah’s thugs.

Our traditional ruler, Igwe M.C. Okekeuche, has been calling for peace and doing everything within his powers to calm the youths. As a devout Catholic, Igwe Okekeuche does not want to witness any bloodshed which is culturally prohibited by Nri cultural heritage. It is an abomination for an Nri person to shed the blood of a clan’s person. PG Ebuka Onurah cares less about this ancient custom because he supervised the killing of Mr. Anayo Nworah during his first tenure as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of EBU-Nigeria. He has tasted blood, and he is determined to do it, again.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed and that is why I am pleading with you to use your good office to investigate the looming breakdown of law and order created by PG Ebuka Onuorah and arrest the situation before it escalates. The least you can do in the current circumstances is to suspend PG Ebuka Onuorah for now because he has lost the confidence of the people and then take your time to investigate the situation of things in Enugwu-Agidi.

I also wish to use this public medium to inform you that some people who identify themselves as Enugwu-Agidi Stakeholders who have called your office several times to intercede on behalf of PG Ebuka Onuorah DO NOT represent Enugwu-Agidi as a town. They are NOT authorized to speak for Enugwu-Agidi town and do not hold any leadership positions both in the traditional and Administrative governance of Enugu-Agidi.

Specifically, Chief Clem Aguiyi, the former Mayor of Njikoka LGA and Mr. Emeka Egwuekwe, Apakata Onyi, the CEO of Prince Furniture, who regularly call you to intercede for PG Ebuka Onuorah DO NOT speak for Enugwu-Agidi as a town. They are supporters of PG Ebuka Onuorah and whatever they are telling you DO NOT represent the general views of Enugwu-Agidi people.

As a part of your investigation, I stand ready to offer you documented proofs to show that PG Ebuka Onuorah is a land grabber with more than 35 active civil and criminal cases filed against him in various courts across Nigeria by mostly Enugwu-Agidi indigenes. No PG in Enugwu-Agidi has such a dismal track record of lawsuits against him.

Also, in my custody is a voice note of a conversation where PG Ebuka Onuorah and Chief Clem Aguiyi were planning to label and frame HRM Igwe Michael Okekeuche as a parMsan politician who belongs to All Progressive Congress (APC). HRM Igwe M.C. Okekeuche does not belong to any political party.

PG Ebuka Onuorah is no stranger to you. His antecedents and serial violations of Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union constitution have been reported to your ministry and directly to you, several Names. In a letter you wrote to him dated 23rd May, 2024 with Reference #

MLGCCA/CM/010/T.2/50, you firmly scolded him for brazenly and illegally suspending Dr. (Sir) Ichie Osita Anameze as the Onowu of Enugwu-Agidi in flagrant violation of the constitution of EBU-Nigeria. Dr. Osita Anameze is a physician who retired as a director at the National Hospital FCT Abuja after decades of meritorious service. He was chosen by Igwe M.C Okekeuche and his Cabinet to serve our town as the Onowu. Moreover, his esteemed position as the next in command to our Igwe and personal accomplishments did not stop PG Ebuka Onuorah from rubbishing his name when he published in various national newspapers and newsrooms aboutDr. Anameze’s illegal suspension as the Onowu of Enugwu-Agidi.

You ended your letter to PG Ebuka Onuorah as follows, “In the light of the above, you are directed to desist from that charade of a thing you called suspension and refrain from interfering with ma:ers concerning the Royal Throne of Okpalariam Enugwu-Agidi.”

Unfortunately, PG Ebuka Onuorah did not heed to your warning because he is getting worse with an escalating violence which includes creating parallel leaderships in various villages, forcefully locking out and denying Enugwu-Agidi people access to our town Secretariat.

In this 21st Century, NO Enugwu-Agidi indigene should be treated like a second-class citizen and as the head of the Ministry of LGA, the ministry closest to the communities in Anambra State, you must intervene and rescue Enugwu-Agidi from PG Ebuka Onuorah’s bondage.

My name is Prince (Dr) Chinedu C. Ikeanyi, a son of Enugwu-Agidi from Igbollo Village. I grew up in Enugwu-Agidi since the age of six years-old, and I am properly socialized in the culture as an Ozo Title holder. I am the son of Late HRH Igwe D.O. Ikeanyi, Okpalariam II who served EnugwuAgidi town for 33.5 years as the immediate past traditional ruler. I do not claim to speak for Enugwu-Agidi town. I am simply inviting you as a concerned citizen of our town to claims I have enumerated above and assess the true picture of things in Enugwu-Agidi and intervene accordingly. By virtue of your office as the Commissioner for LGA, you owe EnugwuAgidi citizens a duty of care as expected by our governor, Governor Soludo, who is very passionate about the welfare and safety of Anambra people.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this urgent message.

Respecfully,

Prince (Dr) Chinedu C. Ikeanyi
