
Enyimba International FC of Aba on Monday, defeated Excellent FC of Delta State 2-0 in the match day three of the ongoing, seventh edition of TICO/ SELECT football tournament in Aba.
The football tournament is an inter-state championship in two centres of Enugu and Aba.
In the match day three played inside the Enyimba International Stadium, between Enyimba FC and Excellent FC, Micheal Abraham opened the scoring for Enyimba in the 49th minute.
Edidiong Ezikiel made it 2-0 in The 63rd minutes to ensure that Enyimba picked six points out of two matches in the tournament.
In other matches of the day, Heartland FC of Owerri, thrashed Inter Aba FC 3-0 before KMK FC Academy of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State played out 0-0 draw against Kun Khalifat of Owerri.
Speaking after the match, Kun Khalifat coach Chinedu Okonkwo said the preseason tournament served as a good avenue to prepare teams for the coming season.
He appluaded the organisers for putting up a competition for teams to showcase their stars and give them room to prepare well for the season.
KMK FC Academy coach, Prince Usen said he expected the match to be a tough one because, he know their opponent to be a strong team.
“I know our opponent will come out stronger for the three points and we need to curtail them with tactics, organisation and co-ordination in midfield and defense,” Usen said..
