The Enugu state Congress of All Progressives Congress, APC, which was conducted on Saturday 19th May, 2019 saw Deacon Hon Okey Ogbodo emerging as the new Chairman of the party in the state.
This development came after some of the party stalwarts staged a walk out almost immediately the Minister, Foreign Affairs Barr Geoffrey Onyeama and the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Reform Mrs Juliet Ibekaku arrived at the venue.
FirstNews correspondent reports that some minutes after the walk out, the faction loyal to the Minister decided to continue with the congress which produced Deacon Ogbodo as the Chairman, Lolo Queen Nwankwo and other Excos.
The politicians that walk out of the venue include the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, the immediate past Chairman of the party in the state, Ben Nwoye, former Governor of Enugu state, Sullivan Chime among others.
It would be recalled that the Stakeholders of both factions had met on Friday 18th at the party Secretariat, agreed to conduct the state Congress together, unlike the local government and ward congresses which the groups held at different venues.
