… preaches mindset shift
The Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, Akwa Ibom State have made case for the creation of ARISE Clubs and Volunteers in Secondary and Tertiary education institutions and communities across the State to further strengthen the propagation of the vision to the people.
Member of the Governing Board of EARCOM and Head of the Media/Advocacy Unit of the Commission, Rev. Osondu Ahirika, disclosed this while answering questions on Update Akwa Ibom, a radio current affairs programme aired on Comfort 95.1 FM Uyo with Catherine Udoh as host.
While explaining the role of the masses in pursuit of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, Ahirika said EARCOM preaches a mindset shift wherein the people will internalise the specifics and focal points of the Agenda and align wholly to the roadmap without political bias and deliberate subversion in the name of playing opposition.
Ahirika revealed that the Dr Dorothy Thompson led EARCOM is committed to collaborate with educational institutions and community leaders to create clubs and Volunteers who can operate within the schools and local communities as Ambassadors of ARISE Agenda and help drum support for the agenda which also includes educational advancement as one of its core values.
EARCOM further sued for a mindset shift urging people who are still contemplating leaving the rural areas to take up residency in urban centres to jettison the idea as the ARISE Agenda which prioritises rural development and agricultural revolution will make the rural communities development hubs in the new dispensation. He expressed optimism that ARISE Agenda Ambassadors and Club’s can drive this campaign going forward.
Ahirika said the EARCOM welcomes the integration of Rural Development onto Ministry of Agriculture as that will streamline project implementation, monitoring and supervision without duplication.
According to the EARCOM official, Governor Umo Eno’s non partisan approach to the Akwa Ibom Dialogue on the ARISE Agenda is a credible demonstration of his determination to carry all tendencies and people of the State along as he pursues development of the State. He therefore charged the citizens to support the Governor Eno led administration to succeed in the vision implementation.
