Great Achievers FC beat Greceland FC 3-1 in Enugu State League
Great Achievers FC of Emene on Friday defeated Graceland FC of Independent Layout 3-1 at the ongoing Enugu State Football League, taking place inside Rangers International FC training pitch, Liberty Estate, Enugu.
Ikechukwu Uhuonu scared Great Achievers when he put Graceland ahead on the 46th minute after the interval but their celebration was cut short when Friday Ogah restored parity for Achievers on 48th minute.
Moses Okpara gave Achievers the lead on 68th minute before Chinemerem Ogbagu compounded Greceland wound on 90th minute to make it 3-1.
In his post-match interview, Great Achievers Coach Micheal Onyeukwu said the win was a hard-fought one as his team came from behind to win.
“We lost our first match of the league 3-1 to Purple Krown Academy and needed to win the match, so trailing to our opponent immediately after the interval was scary.
“I believe we would get the needed win in our last match against Rangers Feeders on April 18 to perfect our qualification to the quarterfinal,” he said.
Onyeukwu said the game was won from the bench as the technical team’s substitution in the match worked out perfectly.
“I fell happy that our dream is still alive as our target is to win the trophy and we are taking the games as they come,” Onyeukwu said.
Meanwhile, in the first match of the day, Elite Space of Trans-Ekulu and Disdevt in Afrik of Independent Layout drew 1-1 and that ended Disdevt journey in the league from group A.
With the result, Elite Space qualified to the quarterfinal on four points after a win and one draw while Young Lions FC of Oji River had three points with a win and a loss.
