Enugu IPAC honours Ex-INEC boss ……..warns against inflammatory speech by political class

Ahead of 2023 general election, the Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Enugu State, Hon. Edwin Ikechukwu Alor, has called on various candidates as well as leadership of political parties to avoid making speeches capable of heating the polity.
Hon. Alor made the call on Wednesday at the IPAC Secretariat in Enugu in a speech at a send off ceremony organised by IPAC in honour of the immediate past Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) Enugu State, Dr. Emeka Ononamadu and the official unveiling of a N300,000,000.00 million of IPAC permanent Secretariat project.
He urged the various candidates to direct their energies on issues that would better the society rather than making inflammatory speeches against their political opponents.
“As the period for political campaigns approaches, I wish all of you good luck and advice you to be Keen, enthusiastic and circumspect.
“Let us direct our campaign energies on issues that will improve all sectors of our society of our society and avoid speeches or conducts that may hear up the polity and endanger our electoral history in Enugu State,” he urges.
In his speech, the out gone REC, Dr. Ononomadu, also urged IPAC to follow religiously the electoral process and never to hold INEC in derision but rather to cooperate with INEC to conduct credible polls.
He expressed joy that throughout his stay as REC, none of his staff came the harms way saying that elections in Enugu State in his day had been peaceful and hitch-free.
In his speech, the gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Pastor Donatus Ozoemena said they are poised to take over Enugu State in 2023.
Pastor Ozoemena who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Hon. Okafor Onyeka Cyndia, said they have the capacity to run the affairs of the state through democratic process, adding that they have gone into door to door consultations to win the hearts of the electorate.
He appealed to the people of the state to come out en-masse to exercise franchise by electing credible leaders in 2023 general election.
“It is true we are in the 21st centuries, where people are more exposed in knowing more about what should be and what shouldn’t be. But when we are thinking over such, we should also have in mind that over 50% of Nigerian citizens those eligible to participate in an election are still far in advancement of electoral process of casting of votes.
“The Nigerian citizens demand for a change of representation in 99% of the governmental offices in Nigeria, these changes they seek look like an abysmal demands, but it’s not, it’s a true prospect demands, as they have opted for this change of bad representation for enormous years and the change they opt for is yet to make edges”, he stated.
