LG BOSS CHARGES OGBETE MARKET BUTCHERS TO ESCHEW BITTERNESS AND RANCOUR

Chairman of the Enugu-North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Emeka Onunze, has called on the leadership of Enugu Urban Butchers’ Association (EUBA), Ogbete, Enugu, to eschew bitterness and rancour with a view to promoting peaceful co-existence in the market.
Hon. Onunze gave the advice when the Executive members of EUBA led by its Chairman, Hon. Nnaemeka Nworie, paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Tuesday.
The local government boss noted that for the past three years he had been in office, nobody or group of persons from the butchers’ association, had called on him in an official capacity, adding that he was overwhelmed by the visit.
Onuze, therefore, urged them to live in harmony so as they could reap the democracy dividends of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who he described as “a God sent”.
“I am happy to welcome all of you to my office. Indeed I am overwhelmed. You may be surprised to hear that your executive is the first to visit me. I have been hearing of butchers and how they are doing their businesses in Ogbete main market, Enugu but I have not seen any person visiting my office as you have done today.
“I appreciate you all. We need to work together towards the success of this administration of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Our Governor is a peace loving leader with human passion and engagement. We should cooperate with the local government to achieve the desired result”, he added.
Earlier, the Chairman of the EUBA, Hon. Nworie, commended the local government boss for his quick intervention in restoring peace in the market, noting that since his inception as chairman of the municipal council, traders had not witness any fire outbreak in the market.
Nworie further said that the Enugu Urban Butchers’ association had never had it so good; stressing that his work had remained unparalleled.
“We humbly wish to thank the honourable Mayor for his numerous achievements in the market such as installation of solar energy, renovation of track road in the market especially on adequate security challenges in the market”, he said.
The high point of the occasion was the presentation of an award to the Mayor by the Association in recognition of his marvelous work in the market.
